Join us in 2025 on our Slovenia photography tour & workshop, perfectly timed to capture the breathtaking colors of autumn. Autumn in Slovenia is a magical time when the landscape transforms into a vibrant tapestry of reds, oranges, and yellows. We will photograph the fairytale Lake Bled with its charming island church and medieval castle, all framed by the fiery hues of fall foliage.

Our Slovenia photo trip includes visits to numerous picturesque locations. Starting in Ljubljana, the lively capital, and culminating in the tranquil Soča River Valley deep in the heart of alpine Slovenia, where we’ll capture the emerald waters and stunning gorges. We’ll also explore the beautiful Julian Alps, with their majestic peaks and serene glacial lakes, and the charming wine region of Jeruzalem, known for its rolling vineyards and hilltop churches.

Where: This photo tour starts and ends in Ljubljana.

Fitness Level: Relaxed; most photo opportunities are within one mile from where we leave the vehicle. You may need to be able to stand and walk for long periods. There is a chance that you can encounter steep terrain (e.g., cobblestones, city hills, stairs without handrails, an absence of elevators, and climbing aboard trains or coaches with big steps) and some longer walks to get to city centers where vehicles are prohibited.

The tour is open to all levels of photographic skills, from beginner to experienced. However, there will be no formal workshops or critiques. We will share knowledge and skills along the way in the spirit of real adventurers.

*Tour prices are set for double occupancy, so unless you travel with a friend or spouse, you'll need the single supplement. If you're traveling alone and choose not to book a single supplement, we'll try to pair you with another participant who also seeks to share.

Roommate pairings are not guaranteed; we'll always pair you with someone of the same gender. However, the single supplement fee will apply if we can't match you with another guest.

The following itinerary remains flexible to capture the unpredictable beauty of Slovenia in autumn. Your tour leader and guide will incorporate impromptu stops, general sightseeing, and the search for unique photo opportunities to ensure you experience and photograph Slovenia at its best.


Day 1 | Arrival in Ljubljana | Airport Code (LJU)| October 14th, 2025

We begin our Slovenian adventure by arriving at Ljubljana Airport, where we'll transfer to our hotel. After a meet and greet session, We'll kick off the tour with an afternoon photography session in the heart of Ljubljana's old town. Together, we'll capture the lively street scenes, stunning baroque architecture, and the picturesque Ljubljanica River as it winds through the city. We'll end the day with a welcome dinner at one of Ljubljana's most pleasing restaurants, setting the stage for an exciting journey ahead.

Day 2-3 | Ljubljana and Central Slovenia

Over the next two days, we'll immerse ourselves in Ljubljana's rich history and vibrant culture. We'll wander through the city's historic streets, photographing its baroque churches and intricate architectural details. We'll dive into street photography in the bustling Central Market and capture candid portraits along the charming riverbanks. Highlights include the iconic Dragon Bridge and the majestic Ljubljana Castle. A half-day trip to a nearby scenic location will offer additional opportunities for stunning landscape photography. We'll enjoy the perfect blend of modern urban culture and historical charm.

Day 4-5 | Jeruzalem Wine Region

We'll drive northeast to the enchanting Jeruzalem Wine Region. En route, we'll stop in Ptuj, one of Slovenia's oldest and most picturesque medieval towns, where we'll capture its historic charm. We'll spend two days exploring and photographing the rolling vineyards and hilltop churches of Jeruzalem. We'll photograph the sunrise casting a golden glow over the vineyards and indulge in local organic wines and cuisine tastings, and experience the warmth and hospitality of local winemakers as we discover hidden gems rarely visited. This segment offers a tranquil escape into Slovenia's rural beauty.

Day 6-7 | Soča River Valley and Triglav National Park

We'll travel to the breathtaking Soča River Valley, a paradise for nature and photography enthusiasts. Together, we'll explore Triglav National Park and photograph the stunning emerald waters of the Soča River, dramatic gorges, and cascading waterfalls. We'll enjoy opportunities for wildlife photography and capture the poignant historical remnants of World War I scattered along scenic trails. Highlights include the awe-inspiring Great Soča Gorge, the serene Tolmin Gorges, and the majestic peaks of Triglav. The combination of natural beauty and historical significance makes this a unique experience.

Day 8-10 | Lake Bled and Julian Alps

We'll move on to the iconic Lake Bled, starting with a panoramic photo session from Bled Castle, offering sweeping views of the lake and its picturesque island church. We'll visit Vintgar Gorge for stunning long-exposure shots of its fast-flowing waters. Just down the road is Lake Bohinj with its tranquil reflections and surrounding alpine beauty. We'll visit nearby traditional villages like Ribčev Laz for a taste of local culture. Each evening, we'll enjoy sunset shoots at Lake Bled, where the changing light transforms the landscape into a photographer's dream. This segment showcases the serene beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Julian Alps.

Day 11 | Departure from Ljubljana | October 24th, 2025

We'll enjoy a final breakfast at our hotel, reminiscing about the unforgettable memories and stunning photographs we've captured throughout the tour. We'll transfer to Ljubljana Airport for our departure or continue with our Goriška Brda & Istria extension.

This extension to Goriška Brda and Istria provides a unique opportunity to delve into the heart of Slovenia's wine country and coastal beauty, enhancing your photographic journey with rich cultural and scenic experiences. Join us to capture the essence of Slovenia through your lens, from rolling vineyards to picturesque coastal towns.


Day 1-2 | Goriška Brda Wine Region

Embark on a photographic journey through the renowned Goriška Brda Wine Region, celebrated for its world-class wines frequently listed on the Wine & Spirit 100 top wines list. This charming hilly area bordering Italy offers incredibly scenic views as we drive from village to village along curvy roads. We'll visit the fortified village of Šmartno, strolling through its cobblestone streets with our cameras in hand, capturing the historic charm and rustic beauty of this picturesque locale. We'll also have the opportunity to visit local wineries, where we'll photograph the rustic interiors of wine cellars and the intricate process of wine tasting. Enjoy the slower pace as we fully immerse ourselves in the beauty and tranquility of this wine region, with ample time to compose stunning shots of the lush vineyards and charming villages from various viewpoints.

Day 3-4 | Piran and Istria

Over the next two days, we'll explore the stunning Slovenian coast, focusing on its historic architecture and breathtaking coastal landscapes. Our days begin with sunrise photography sessions above Piran, capturing one of the most classic Adriatic experiences. We'll visit the Sečovlje saltpans, among the oldest in the Adriatic, where traditional salt production continues. These saltpans offer fantastic opportunities for landscape photography, especially in the warm afternoon light. From the vibrant life in Piran to the serene coastal scenes, this charming region provides a wide variety of photographic perspectives, allowing us to capture the essence of Slovenia's coastal beauty.

Enjoy a final breakfast at our hotels. We'll transfer to Ljubljana Airport for our departure.

Darlene Hildebrandt is a photographer with over 33 years of experience. She’s photographed everything from food, editorial, products, portraits, weddings, and events. Nowadays, she prefers doing street and travel photography. However, she still considers herself a people photographer first and foremost, which is where her portrait lighting skills and experience come in handy.
She’s been sharing her skills and experiences with beginner and intermediate photographers since 2011 through articles on her website, Digital Photo Mentor, video tutorials on her YouTube channel, and photography workshops (in-person and virtual classes or webinars). She is also a skilled trainer for Lightroom Classic and Luminar Neo.

Daniel Korzeniewski

Photography is more than a passion for Daniel; it’s a golden opportunity to document the world and share unique cultures with people across the globe. Embarking upon his creative path at the age of 17, he has since shot assignments, commercial work, and lifestyle campaigns.

However, his primary focus is on travel and landscape photography. Daniel led photo tours in Morocco, India, Peru, Cuba, and Vietnam during the last few years.

Daniel is fluent in both Spanish and English.
